In what situations can my surgery be cancelled or postponed?

📋

In our pre-surgery process, your surgery planning is made with great care after all rhinoplasty details are conveyed to you and mutual approval is secured.

However, it should not be forgotten that your general health and surgical safety are paramount. Therefore, in some unforeseen medical situations that may arise before surgery, your surgery may be POSTPONED or CANCELLED.

⚠️ Postponement / Cancellation Reasons:

🤧
1. Respiratory Tract Infection
If you have a respiratory tract infection on the day of surgery or right before it.
🚭
2. Smoking
If you have not been able to quit smoking before surgery.
🩸
3. Blood Test Results
If there is any value in the pre-surgery tests that could prevent surgery.
🦠
4. Infectious Disease
If you have a newly diagnosed/to be diagnosed infectious disease (Hepatitis, HIV).

🚭 Effects of Smoking

A patient who cannot stop smoking should not undergo surgery, as it will badly affect the surgical healing result. If you hide this information from us, it means you have accepted the resulting harm from the beginning.

🩸 Pre-surgery tests

In the blood test, Hemoglobin (HB, Hgb), Platelet (Plt), aPTT, and INR tests must be within normal limits. A low hemoglobin value may disrupt tissue oxygenation, causing healing issues and poor results. Even if not in normal limits, hb>10 should be present, and the patient must receive the necessary treatment for anemia post-surgery.

🦠 Infectious Disease Status

In this case, primarily the treatment of these diseases and an evaluation in this regard will be necessary.

Patients who do not want to take the risk of their surgery being postponed/cancelled can have the following tests done at any hospital of their choice before surgery:

🧪 Hemogram, INR, aPTT, Anti-HIV, Anti-HCV, HbsAg

💊 If you have a thyroid-related disease and are being followed up for this reason, be sure to have your TSH value checked to be in the normal range before surgery.
