When can I shower after surgery?

⚡

You can shower on the first day after surgery. The only area that must stay dry is the nose: the tape/cast on your nose and the inside of your nose must not get wet for 14 days, while the rest of your body, including your hair, can be washed.

Shower Rules
  • If you will shower on the first day, to avoid tiring yourself, be sure to get help from a relative.
  • While showering, water must never come in contact with your nose and the tape/cast on it.
  • Wash or have your hair washed tilting backward, like the washbasins at a hairdresser.
  • You must meticulously follow this water protection rule for 14 days.

Surgeon's note
  • Some patients think they cannot shower at all during the first week — that is not the case.
  • The nose is the only part that must stay dry: keep the tapes on your nose and the inside of your nose away from tap water.
  • The whole body apart from the nose, hair included, can be washed.
