I have a young child — how should care at home be planned after surgery?

For parents of young children, the most critical restriction is this: you are not allowed to pick up your child for at least 2–3 weeks after surgery. This rule is mandatory both because of possible accidental knocks to your nose and because of the rise in abdominal pressure.

👶

Ages 0–2 (Baby): During this period, it is recommended to have an adult with you who can help you at all times. Lifting and carrying the baby is not allowed for the first 2–3 weeks.

🧒

Ages 2–5 (Young Child): Lifting is still not allowed. Set up an arrangement that keeps your child from running into you or hitting your face. Plan for daycare or a babysitter for the first week.

🧑

Age 5 and Over: More independent children make the process easier to manage. Even so, an adult should be with you during the first week.

Companion: It is recommended that you arrange for an adult (spouse, mother, sibling) who can help you at home, especially for the first 5–7 days. This is necessary both for your child's care and for your own safety.

For breastfeeding mothers: Breastfeeding is not an obstacle to surgery. However, you should not breastfeed for the first 24 hours after anesthesia and should pump and discard your milk; after that, you can continue breastfeeding (breastfeeding mothers and surgery).
