Will the results I see on social media apply to me too?

Social media has become one of the most common ways to learn about rhinoplasty. However, knowing some important limitations of the results you see helps you form healthy expectations.

📷 Selective Posting

Surgeons and patients share their best results on social media. Average or below-expectation results are rarely seen. The gallery you see is a carefully selected sample.

✨ The Effect of Filters and Editing

A large share of before/after photos are posted with filters, lighting adjustments or light editing. In real life, that sharpness and contour may not always be so pronounced.

👤 Every Anatomy Is Different

Skin thickness, bone structure, cartilage stiffness and facial proportions vary considerably from person to person. The same technique gives different results on different anatomies. Someone else's result is not a direct prediction for you.

🎨 The Effect of Makeup and Lighting

Heavy contour makeup is applied in the vast majority of influencer content. This can change the shape of the nose dramatically, and part of what is attributed to the surgical result is actually the effect of makeup.

🎯

How Do You Form Realistic Expectations?

Use social media for inspiration, not for setting a goal. Review your surgeon's own patient gallery; these photos are real results on real patient anatomies. At your consultation, evaluate together with your doctor the possible result specific to your face.

Realistic expectations are the strongest guarantee of a satisfying result. Evaluate your social media references together with your surgeon and answer the question "what suits my face?" together.
