After a minor bump, apply ice, take a painkiller if needed and send a photo. If your nose has become crooked or a fracture is suspected, do not wait: the correction must be done within the first 2–3 days, before the nose swells too much.
- To prevent swelling, ice: 10 minutes every hour. Do not apply the ice directly; put it in a freezer bag or a glove so that the tape does not get wet.
- For pain and swelling you can take a painkiller: 3 tablets a day, for 3 days.
- If there is a visible change, send a photo (how to take one?); in the following days, let's follow up with one photo a day (hourly photos are not needed).
- For the swollen area, we may recommend tape and gentle finger massage: 5–6 times a day, 1 minute each. This is separate from your routine nose massage and is applied only to the swollen area; we will tell you how to do it after looking at your photo.

After a serious knock (if the nose has become crooked)- First, a nasal CT scan should be taken at the nearest emergency department and the nose assessed for a fracture.
- If there is a fracture, the correction should be done before the nose becomes very swollen, preferably within 2–3 days. Ice keeps the swelling lower.
- Bleeding usually stops; what really matters is correcting the crookedness in time.
- It is too early to say on the first day whether another operation will be needed.
For medical matters, write directly to your surgeon, not to the coordinator (medical questions). Why you should protect your nose from knocks for the first 6 months: trauma and fractures.
